Shy or Older - Rabbits Who Need Special People
If you would like to adopt, be sure to read the adoption requirements and application section here.

These rabbits have a harder time finding homes. They are hoping to be found and loved by special, altruistic people. All these bunnies need people willing to accept and love them just as they are.

Some rabbits who need people to look at them with unselfish eyes are the shyer rabbits. In a shelter, they do not rush to the front of their crates for attention, yet these rabbits deserve a home as much as the more outgoing bunnies. Rabbits with seeming behavior problems have a very good chance of blossoming in a home where they get more individual attention and experience less chaos than in a shelter. Some of these rabbits are more emotional than others and may need the closeness they can develop with caring humans they learn they can trust. Such rabbits may bond more closely with their people than the average rabbit.

Other rabbits who need people to look at them with unselfish eyes are older rabbits, overlooked by the many people just looking at cute little youngsters. These older rabbits have so often spent a lifetime in someone's home, only to face the loneliness of shelter life in their last years. These are often the most well-mannered and dignified of rabbits, having already learned good house-rabbit manners, and truly enjoying the companionship of loving people. People may worry about medical needs of older bunnies, as well as recognizing they won’t be with them for as many years as younger rabbits are likely to be. Yet these rabbits, too, need love and care. Some of our elderly rabbits and those likely to require more than normal medical care are available as permanent fosters.

A woman had established a rescue organization called "Little Bit o’ Love" in Carpenter, WY. Sadly, she had little help, and couldn’t say "no" to animals who were to be killed in animal shelters. Eventually, there were just too many and she was shut down. Kristin was one of 19 rabbits who came from there.

Poor Kristen here is very shy and nervous. Obviously, despite all the good intentions in the world, she got exactly what was promised, just a "little bit of love" and it wasn't enough to teach her that the world is a safe place for a pretty little one such as she and that she can trust people - at least the people she will meet here with us!

Give this lovely young rabbit a chance to find a LOT of love in a home with your boy bunn. All of you will feel better about the world as Kristen learns all about that little thing called Love!
